S429A covers the surgical repair or complete removal of a kidney that has been ruptured or lacerated. The fee for this service is for the primary surgeon's work.
Assistant and anaesthetist services are also payable and are calculated based on units:
• Anaesthesia: 7 basic units plus time units as per the rules on .
• Assistant: 7 basic units plus time units as per the rules on .
As per , a second surgical assistant's services are payable for this procedure without special authorization.
All insured services must be documented in appropriate records. The Act requires that the record establish that:
1. an insured service was provided;
2. the service for which the account is submitted is the service that was rendered; and
3. the service was medically necessary.
