S576 is for the radical amputation of the penis. This procedure includes the dissection and removal of both inguinal and femoral lymph glands. The surgery may be completed in a single operation (one stage) or across two separate operations (two stages). The fee for the surgeon (suffix A) is a flat rate. The fees for the surgical assistant (suffix B) and the anaesthetist (suffix C) are calculated based on a combination of base units and time units. Base units for an assistant are 6, and for an anaesthetist are 7.
If claiming the Trauma Premium (E420), the medical record must list the Injury Severity Score (ISS).
