S813 – Repeat vaginal sacropexy
OHIP Urology Code — FEMALE GENITAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Repeat repair of vaginal vault prolapse using an abdominal approach, also known as vaginal sacropexy. As a '#' prefixed service, when rendered in a hospital or ICHSC, the premises, equipment, supplies and personnel are not included in the fee. See .
When to Use
- Use S813 for a repeat abdominal sacropexy procedure where a previous repair of the vaginal vault prolapse has failed or recurred.
- Select S813 specifically for the abdominal approach; do not use this code for vaginal-route repeat repairs, which are billed under different codes.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing S813 for a primary sacropexy; ensure the operative report clearly documents the history of the prior failed procedure to justify the 'repeat' status.
- Attempting to bill S813 in conjunction with other pelvic floor repairs without checking for 'included' services, as many concurrent procedures are considered part of the global surgical fee.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the operative note explicitly details the lysis of adhesions or the management of previous mesh/sutures, as these complexities are inherent to the 'repeat' nature of the procedure and justify the code selection.
