A diagnostic radiology procedure for the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum, including survey film, if taken. This service has both a professional component (P-fee), claimed as X108C, and a technical component (H-fee), claimed as X108B. The technical component is not payable when rendered outside of a hospital. The professional component is for the physician's interpretation of the images. Per , when a service has both technical and professional components, they are claimed separately using suffix 'B' for the technical component and suffix 'C' for the professional component.

When to Use

  • Use X108 for comprehensive upper gastrointestinal series involving the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum, including the required survey film.
  • Use X108 instead of X107 when the examination extends beyond the oesophagus to include the stomach and duodenum.
