X334
X334 – Intracavitary application of radium or sealed sources - repeat application
OHIP Laboratory Code — RADIATION ONCOLOGY · Schedule of Benefits
A repeat intracavitary application of radium or sealed sources, which may include dilatation and curettage if carried out at the same time as the application. This is a subsequent procedure following an initial application (X323).
When to Use
- Use X334 exclusively for the second or subsequent intracavitary application of radium or sealed sources in a multi-fraction treatment course.
- Apply this code when a dilatation and curettage (D&C) is performed concurrently with a repeat application of sealed sources.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing X334 for the initial application, which must be billed under X323 to avoid rejection for incorrect sequence.
- Attempting to bill a separate D&C procedure code alongside X334, as the D&C is considered inclusive to this code when performed at the same time.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the claim history clearly reflects the prior X323 service to justify the 'repeat' status of X334 and prevent audit flags.
- If the procedure is performed after hours or on weekends, ensure the appropriate E-series premium is appended to the X334 fee to maximize the claim value.
