When to Use
- Use Z536 when a sigmoidoscopy is performed specifically to obtain tissue samples for pathology, distinguishing it from a diagnostic-only sigmoidoscopy (Z535).
- Use Z536 when performing a sigmoidoscopy that includes both anoscopy and biopsy, as the biopsy component is the primary procedural driver for this fee.
