This code is used when a surgical assistant or anaesthesiologist who started a procedure is replaced by another physician of the same role during the course of a surgical procedure or delivery.
The start and stop times for each physician must be documented in the patient's permanent medical record.
Usage limits
Limited to one replacement per role per procedure.

For E005B, the replacement assistant is eligible for the same time unit multipliers (e.g., double time) as the original assistant.

E005C applies to both surgical procedures and deliveries.
