E367
E367 – Thoracic/Lumbar spinal arthrodesis - one disc level
OHIP Surgical Assists Code — SPINAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use E367 for an anterior spinal arthrodesis of a single thoracic or lumbar disc level performed immediately following a decompression procedure.
- Use E367 when the procedure is performed without the use of internal fixation or instrumentation.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E367 as a standalone procedure; it must be submitted in conjunction with an eligible decompression code such as N502 through N508 or N579.
- Attempting to bill E367 for multi-level fusions; use E364 as an add-on code for every additional disc level beyond the first.
- Incorrectly billing E367 for procedures involving instrumentation, which are subject to different fee codes.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the primary decompression code is included on the same claim to avoid automatic rejection of the arthrodesis fee.
- If an assistant is required, submit the claim using M400B and include a letter of justification, as E367 lacks a pre-defined basic unit value for assistant billing.
