This is an add-on fee payable in addition to `Z323` (Direct laryngoscopy with removal of lesion(s)) when a laser is used with microlaryngoscopy for benign disease.
When to Use
- Use E643 when performing laser excision or ablation of benign vocal cord lesions (e.g., polyps, nodules) in conjunction with Z323.
- Use E643 for laser treatment of benign laryngeal papillomatosis when the primary procedure is coded as Z323.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E643 without Z323 on the same claim will result in an automatic rejection as it is a mandatory add-on code.
- Attempting to bill E600 concurrently with E643 is prohibited; the system will reject the claim as these codes are mutually exclusive.
