Epicardial Electrophysiologic Study (E.P.S.) mapping is an add-on procedure performed during open-heart surgery. It involves mapping the electrical activity on the outer surface (epicardium) of the heart to identify abnormal electrical pathways or sources of arrhythmias. This code is intended to be billed in addition to the primary cardiac surgical procedure, such as a cardiotomy (R712, R713, R714).
