R711
R711 – Division of accessory conduction pathway
OHIP Radiology Code — CARDIOVASCULAR SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Division of an accessory conduction pathway. The fee for this service is inclusive of the associated cardiotomy, mapping, and is payable with or without a HIS bundle procedure, as per the rules outlined in .
When to Use
- Use R711 for the surgical division of an accessory conduction pathway, such as an accessory AV pathway associated with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
- Use this code when the procedure is performed as a standalone surgical intervention or in conjunction with other cardiac surgical procedures where the accessory pathway division is the primary focus.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill E661 (endocardial E.P.S. mapping) or E658 (HIS bundle ablation) alongside R711, as these components are explicitly included in the R711 fee.
- Avoid billing R711 with restricted codes E660, E661, or E658, as these will trigger automatic rejections due to the inclusive nature of the R711 global fee.
Billing Tips
- Ensure that all associated mapping and cardiotomy services are captured under the R711 fee, as these are not separately payable and attempting to unbundle them will lead to audit scrutiny.
