- Claim G501 per injection when multiple injections are required as part of a single diagnostic stimulation test protocol.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not attempt to bill G501 with after-hours premiums E409 or E410, as it is not classified as a Major Invasive Procedure.
- Avoid billing G501 as a standalone office visit; it is a procedure code and does not include the assessment component of a K030 or A007.
- Failure to document the specific timing and dosage of the injection in the chart will lead to recovery during an audit.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the diagnostic test is clearly labeled in the medical record to distinguish the injection procedure from routine medication administration.
