When to Use
- Use J809 as an add-on when performing SPECT imaging in conjunction with a resting or immediate post-stress myocardial perfusion study (J807).
- Use J809 when performing SPECT imaging during the delayed phase of a myocardial perfusion study (J808), up to a maximum of two units.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing J809 without an associated J807 or J808 claim on the same service date will result in an automatic rejection.
- Exceeding the maximum limit of one unit for J807 or two units for J808 will trigger a claim rejection for the excess units.
