L080

L080Glucose, quantitative

OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits

A laboratory medicine procedure for the quantitative measurement of glucose in a specimen.

When to Use

  • Use L080 exclusively when operating as a licensed private laboratory facility, as this code is restricted to laboratory-based services.
  • Use L080 for quantitative glucose analysis when the service is performed outside of the physician's own office setting.

Common Pitfalls

  • Billing L080 for in-office glucose testing is a common audit trigger; G002 must be used for all point-of-care testing performed in the physician's own office.
  • Submitting L080 without a documented interpretative report in the patient record will lead to clawbacks during Ministry audits.

Billing Tips

  • Always append G489 when performing the venipuncture required to obtain the specimen for the L080 analysis to ensure appropriate compensation for the collection process.
