L713
L713 – L713
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L713 for the laboratory handling fee when you collect a specimen in your office and forward it to a laboratory for analysis.
- Apply this code when the specimen collection is the sole purpose of the patient encounter, as it cannot be billed in addition to a visit fee like A007.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing L713 alongside an office visit fee (A001, A007) will result in a rejection, as the handling fee is considered inclusive of the visit.
- Submitting L713 for tests performed entirely within your own office laboratory is incorrect; it is strictly for specimens sent to an external facility.
Billing Tips
- Ensure you only bill one L713 per patient encounter, regardless of the number of different specimens collected and sent to the lab.
Provider Fee$7.52
Effective: April 1, 2018
Since Feb 2002, this fee has decreased 27.3% vs 29.0% CPI inflation
