N570 – Vertebroplasty (injection of bone cement) as sole procedure, first level
OHIP Otolaryngology Code — SPINAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Vertebroplasty involves the injection of bone cement into a vertebra. This code is used when it is the sole procedure performed, for the first vertebral level treated. For each additional level treated with vertebroplasty, add-on code E391 should be claimed in addition to N570. As per the note on page , no other services from the Spinal Surgical Procedures section are payable with N570 except for E391. This procedure is eligible for surgeon (A), assistant (B), and anaesthetist (C) fees.
When to Use
- Use N570 as the primary code for the first vertebral level when vertebroplasty is performed as a standalone procedure.
- Use N570 for the initial level when treating multiple levels, provided the procedure is not combined with other non-vertebroplasty spinal surgeries.
Common Pitfalls
- Claiming any other codes from the Spinal Surgical Procedures section on the same day as N570 will result in a rejection, as N570 is restricted to being billed only with E391.
- Billing N570 for the first level when the procedure is combined with other spinal surgeries; in those cases, E388 must be used as the primary code instead.
Billing Tips
- Always pair N570 with E391 for every additional vertebral level treated during the same session to ensure full compensation for multi-level procedures.
