This specific code is for an additional test rendered for patients with specific high-risk factors (Hypercortisolism/Cushing’s syndrome or high-dose glucocorticoid therapy) that justify more frequent testing than standard intervals.
The service must be rendered for the prevention and management of osteoporosis or osteopenia.
Measurement must be performed using Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) by axial technique only.
Measuring only one site (X237) is only permitted if measuring both hip and spine is not technically feasible due to prosthesis or deformity.
