X326
X326 – Thyroid malignancy
OHIP Laboratory Code — RADIATION ONCOLOGY · Schedule of Benefits
Treatment of thyroid malignancy using non-sealed radioisotope sources. This benefit includes treatment planning, dosage calculation and preparation of materials. Appropriate visit and procedural benefits (e.g. paracentesis) may be claimed in addition. The fee for X326 includes all administration(s) within any three month period.
When to Use
- Use X326 for the administration of non-sealed radioisotope sources specifically for the treatment of thyroid malignancy.
- Use this code when the service includes the comprehensive package of treatment planning, dosage calculation, and material preparation.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing X326 more than once within a three-month period is a common rejection, as the fee is inclusive of all administrations during that window.
- Attempting to bill separate planning or preparation fees is incorrect, as these components are explicitly bundled into the X326 benefit.
Billing Tips
- Ensure you append appropriate visit or procedural codes (e.g., paracentesis) if performed during the same encounter, as these are permitted in addition to X326.
- Maintain a clear record of the three-month billing cycle for each patient to avoid automatic rejections for duplicate claims within the restricted timeframe.
