Placement of fiducial markers into the prostate
When to Use
- Use X337 when performing the transrectal or transperineal insertion of gold seeds or other radiopaque markers into the prostate to facilitate image-guided radiation therapy.
- Select X337 specifically for fiducial placement; do not use it for rectal spacer insertion, which is billed under X338.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing X337 alongside planning codes X310, X311, X312, or X313 will result in rejection due to the global restriction on treatment services during a course of treatment where planning is billed.
- Attempting to bill for ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance used during the procedure will trigger a rejection, as all imaging is considered included in the X337 fee.
Billing Tips
- Since the fee covers the placement of all markers in a single session, do not attempt to bill X337 multiple times if multiple fiducials are placed during the same encounter.
- Ensure the procedure is performed in-person, as X337 is ineligible for virtual care billing.
