- Use this code when managing a traumatic hemothorax requiring urgent closed drainage, ensuring it is not bundled with other respiratory surgical procedures performed in the same operative session.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing a consultation or major assessment on the same day as Z341 will result in a rejection, as Z341 is an Independent Operative Procedure (IOP) that includes the pre-operative assessment.
- Attempting to bill Z341 alongside Z363 (Thoracoscopy) is prohibited due to explicit code restrictions, which will trigger an automatic claim rejection.
