Medical management of early pregnancy - initial service when a physician renders an initial assessment and administration of cytotoxic medication(s) for the termination of early pregnancy or missed abortion. The cost of the drug(s) is not included in the fee for the service.
When to Use
- Bill A920 for the initial assessment and administration of methotrexate for a patient with a confirmed early pregnancy (e.g., less than 9 weeks gestation) requiring medical termination.
- Use A920 when a patient presents with a missed abortion and requires medical management, including the administration of cytotoxic medication for termination.
- A920 is appropriate for the initial management of an early pregnancy termination where the physician performs the assessment and administers the necessary medication, distinct from surgical management.
