Common Pitfalls
- Exceeding the maximum of 4 total procedures per patient per day when combining E183 with E182, E184, or E185 will result in automatic claim rejection.
- Failing to document the use of an adjustable suture in the operative report will lead to the denial of the E949 add-on fee.
- Applying the E877 repeat procedure premium without clear documentation in the operative note that the specific muscle was previously operated on.
Billing Tips
- Always append the E949 flat-fee add-on to your claim if an adjustable suture technique is utilized during the E183 procedure.
- Ensure that age-based premiums are calculated correctly based on the patient's age at the time of the procedure, as these are automatically triggered by the patient's date of birth.
