E800 – Radial or linear probe through endoscope

This code is an add-on to a primary endoscopy fee for the use of a radial or linear probe through the endoscope. This service excludes examination of the biliary and/or pancreatic systems, which is covered by E801.
When to Use
- Use E800 when performing endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) or esophageal ultrasound using a radial or linear probe during a standard bronchoscopy or endoscopy.
- Use this code for intraluminal ultrasound assessment of gastrointestinal wall layers or peritumoral structures that are not part of the biliary or pancreatic system.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E800 alongside E801 is a common error; the Ministry explicitly sets the value of E800 to zero when E801 is present.
- Attempting to claim E800 for biliary or pancreatic imaging will result in a rejection or clawback, as those procedures are exclusively covered under E801.

- Ensure E800 is submitted as an add-on to the primary endoscopic procedure code to avoid claim rejection for missing a primary service.
