G193Complete multichannel urodynamic assessment

OHIP Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures Code — DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits

This service is a complete multichannel urodynamic assessment designed to evaluate bladder and urethral function. It must include monitoring of intravesicular, intra-abdominal, and urethral pressures. The procedure may be performed with or without accompanying pressure-flow studies. An electromyography (EMG) can be added on using G194A.

When to Use

  • Use G193 when performing a full multichannel assessment involving simultaneous monitoring of intravesical, intra-abdominal, and urethral pressures, regardless of whether a pressure-flow study is included.
  • Select G193 instead of G192 (simple cystometrogram) when the diagnostic requirement necessitates the complexity of multichannel pressure monitoring rather than a basic bladder capacity assessment.

Common Pitfalls

  • Billing G900 (residual urine measurement) on the same day as G193 will result in an automatic rejection, as the Ministry considers residual urine assessment integral to the urodynamic procedure.
  • Failing to document the specific multichannel pressure readings in the clinical notes creates a significant audit risk, as the code explicitly requires intravesical, intra-abdominal, and urethral pressure data.

Billing Tips

  • Always append G194A to the claim if an electromyography (EMG) is performed during the same session to capture the additional $8.35 fee, as it is not included in the base G193 rate.
