This code is applicable when the total study time (time in bed) is between 1 and 4 hours. This service is not included in the usage limits for complete overnight sleep studies.

The determination that the recording does not contain sufficient information for a diagnostic interpretation must be made in accordance with generally accepted standards as set out in the CPSO Standards.

As the service is defined by its duration, the total study time (time in bed) must be documented in the medical record to justify the use of this code over J898 or J990.

A maximum of one of any of J898, J899 and J990 is eligible for payment, per patient, per facility, per 12 month period.
