N107Endovascular approach for arteriovenous malformation

OHIP Otolaryngology Code — NEUROLOGICAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits

Endovascular approach to include balloon catheter or embolization techniques for arteriovenous malformation

When to Use

  • Use N107 for the primary endovascular embolization of an intracranial arteriovenous malformation (AVM) using liquid embolic agents or coils.
  • Select N107 when the procedure involves balloon-assisted navigation or occlusion specifically for the management of the AVM nidus.

Common Pitfalls

  • Do not bill N107 in conjunction with diagnostic cerebral angiography (E894) if the angiography is considered an integral part of the surgical planning and execution of the N107 procedure.
  • Avoid billing N107 for simple diagnostic catheterization; this code is strictly for therapeutic endovascular intervention.
  • Ensure the procedure is not unbundled; if multiple vessels are embolized in a single session, N107 is typically claimed once as the primary procedure rather than per vessel.

Billing Tips

  • Always verify if the procedure qualifies for an Age Premium based on the patient's age at the time of service, as this is a significant percentage increase to the $1456.95 base fee.
  • If the procedure is performed on an emergency basis between 17:00 and 07:00, ensure the appropriate After Hours Procedure Premium is appended to the claim to maximize reimbursement.
