A minor nerve graft involving a sensory or cutaneous nerve. Payment for this service is subject to the following rules:
• The fee for N183 includes any exploration, decompression, division, excision, and/or neurolysis of the involved nerve(s), if performed.
• Nerve graft fees, including N183, include the harvesting of the nerve(s) required for the graft.
• Peripheral nerve fee codes, including N183, include any guidance, nerve stimulation, or nerve mapping if performed.
Payment Rule: N289, N287, N293, N291, `N183 and/or `N288 include exploration, decompression, division, excision, and/or neurolysis of the nerve(s) involved, if performed.
Payment Rule: Nerve graft fees include harvesting of the nerve(s) required for grafting.
Payment Rule: Peripheral nerve fees codes include any guidance, nerve stimulation, or nerve mapping if performed.
