S798 – Adrenalectomy - unilateral

Unilateral adrenalectomy or exploration involves the surgical exploration or removal of one adrenal gland. A 25% premium (E793) may be added if the procedure is performed laparoscopically or with laparoscopic assistance. This procedure is eligible for various add-on premiums for after-hours work, trauma cases, and patient age. The fees for surgical assistance (suffix B) and anaesthesia (suffix C) are calculated based on basic units plus time units.
The fee for a surgical assistant (suffix B) is calculated based on 10 basic units plus time units as per the rules on .
The fee for an anaesthesiologist (suffix C) is calculated based on 10 basic units plus time units as per the rules on .
A second assistant requires authorization by a medical consultant as S798 is not on the pre-approved list for second assistants (see ).
