Z730 – Follow up colposcopy without biopsy
OHIP Psychiatric Code — FEMALE GENITAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Follow up colposcopy without biopsy is an endoscopic examination of the cervix, vagina, and/or vulva. This service includes the collection of cervical cancer screening specimen(s) for cytology and/or endocervical curetting if performed. It also includes collection of a specimen for HPV testing if performed for cervical cancer screening related indications. As per , a screening colposcopy is included in the assessment.
When to Use
- Use Z730 for a follow-up colposcopy examination where no biopsy is performed during the encounter.
- Use this code when performing a colposcopy to collect cervical cancer screening specimens for cytology or HPV testing in a follow-up setting.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill Z730 with G394 or G365, as these codes are explicitly restricted and will result in claim rejection.
- Do not attempt to bill a separate assessment fee (e.g., A007) on the same day as Z730, as the colposcopy procedure code includes the assessment.
- Do not bill Z730 if a biopsy is performed; use the appropriate biopsy-specific code instead to ensure accurate reimbursement.
Billing Tips
- Ensure that if endocervical curettage is performed during the procedure, it is not billed separately as it is considered included in the Z730 fee.
- Apply relevant age-based premiums if the patient falls into the eligible categories to maximize the procedural fee.
