E010C is an extra unit premium payable in addition to basic and time units when an anaesthesiologist administers an anaesthetic to a patient with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 40. These 2 extra units are added to the total unit count for the anaesthetic service. Per , BMI is calculated by dividing the patient's weight (in kilograms) by the square of the patient's height (in metres).
The medical record must contain the patient's weight and height to substantiate the BMI calculation.
