Management of uncomplicated upper or lower gastrointestinal bleeding, by any technique (e.g. laser, injection, diathermy, banding etc.). This is an add-on service payable in addition to the following endoscopic procedures: - Oesophagoscopy-gastroscopy, with or without duodenoscopy (Z399, Z400) - Small bowel push enteroscopy (Z584) - Colonoscopy for active bleeding (Z496, Z497) - Sigmoidoscopy with or without anoscopy (Z535, Z536, Z592)
When to Use
- Use E797 when you perform active hemostasis via injection, thermal therapy, or banding during a diagnostic or therapeutic endoscopy like Z400 or Z496.
- Apply this code when you encounter a bleeding lesion during a routine procedure (e.g., Z399) that requires immediate intervention to secure hemostasis.
