E925 – Repeat peripheral nerve procedure or delayed acute nerve injury repair
OHIP Surgical Assists Code — NEUROLOGICAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
to basic fee for a repeat peripheral nerve procedure, (i.e., any N-prefix surgical fee code in the Peripheral Nerves section), or when acute nerve injury repair by suture, transfer or graft is delayed for more than 4 weeks - add 30%
When to Use
- Apply this 30% premium when performing a revision surgery on a previously operated peripheral nerve, such as a re-exploration for neurolysis (N189) or a repeat nerve graft (N285).
- Use this code when performing a delayed primary repair of an acute nerve injury (e.g., N282 or N283) that occurs more than 4 weeks after the initial trauma.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill E925 for primary nerve repairs performed within the first 4 weeks of injury, as this is considered standard acute care.
- Avoid applying this premium to non-peripheral nerve procedures; it is strictly limited to N-prefix codes found within the Peripheral Nerves section of the Schedule of Benefits.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the E925 is linked directly to the primary N-prefix surgical fee code, as it calculates as a 30% increase on that specific procedure's base fee.
