B962 – Travel Premium - Sat., Sun. and Holidays
OHIP Paediatrics Code — GENERAL PREAMBLE · Schedule of Benefits
A travel premium payable for a non-elective special visit to a patient's home (other than a Long-Term Care Institution) rendered on Saturdays, Sundays, or Holidays between 00:00 and 24:00.
When to Use
- Bill B962 for a non-elective home visit on a Sunday to manage an acute exacerbation of COPD, provided it's not an A001 or A007 service.
- Use B962 for a Saturday visit to a patient's home for urgent wound care following a fall, when the patient cannot attend the office.
- Apply B962 for a holiday visit to a patient's home to assess a new diabetic complication requiring immediate intervention, outside of regular office hours.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing B962 in conjunction with A001 or A007 for a patient's home visit, as travel is considered included in these assessment codes.
- Submitting B962 for visits to Long-Term Care Institutions, which are not eligible for this premium.
- Claiming B962 more than twice in a single Saturday, Sunday, or holiday period, exceeding the usage limit.
Billing Tips
- Always document the specific time of the home visit on the medical record when submitting B962.
- Pair B962 with an appropriate A-prefix assessment code and, if it's the first patient seen during the trip, also bill B994.

Special Visit Premium
Premium
For fee codes listed in Tables I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X the time at which the special visit takes place must be documented on the medical record.
Submit claims using the appropriate A-prefix assessment fee from the “General Listings” for an assessment rendered in conjunction with a special visit premium.
A multiple resident dwelling is defined as a single location sharing a common external building entrance or lobby (e.g., apartment block, retirement home, hostel, correctional facility).
For A001 or A007 rendered in a patient's home, travel is considered a common element and is not separately billable via B962.
