G325 – Planning and delivery of the initial acute treatment
OHIP Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures Code — DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
The medical component for managing a patient undergoing haemodialysis. This is described as a team benefit which includes listed items, but does not cover the preliminary investigation of the case. The definition of haemodialysis for this service includes haemofiltration and haemoperfusion.
When to Use
- Use G325 for the initial planning and management of a patient starting acute haemodialysis, haemofiltration, or haemoperfusion.
- Bill this code when establishing the initial treatment protocol for a patient requiring urgent or acute renal replacement therapy.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill G325 for routine ongoing maintenance dialysis sessions, as this code is specific to the initial acute treatment planning.
- Avoid billing G325 in conjunction with preliminary investigation codes, as the Schedule of Benefits explicitly excludes these from the G325 fee.
Billing Tips
- Ensure that any preliminary investigations performed prior to the acute treatment plan are billed separately using appropriate diagnostic codes, as they are not bundled into G325.
