This is an add-on fee that can be claimed in addition to the primary endoscopic procedure when multiple biopsies are performed. It is payable with oesophagoscopy-gastroscopy with or without duodenoscopy (Z399, Z400) or with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) (Z561, Z558, Z760). The fee applies when three or more biopsies are taken from a specific lesion, as per the description 'with multiple (3 or more) biopsies of specific lesion'.
The medical record must document that three or more biopsies were taken from a specific lesion during the primary endoscopic procedure.
